How do you correct incorrect information found in public records?

I've search for myself on various of the public records sites and they have WRONG information about me - for instance I do not now, nor have I EVER lived with or know a Paul Carpenter, but he is listed in my information. As it turns out, when I ran it down.. it was the name of my LANDLORD, who legitimately showed up, linked on the address. Duh.. he owned the property. Thus, Mr Carpenter may have lived at your address before, and automated search engines pick this up.

Most persons using any of these "public records" searches, should be aware of pitfalls and errors. I don't know that it is something that is correctable. Intelius is NOT a reputable website and is rarely accurate. Request copies of these records from the various places they come from, and notify the holder of the record that it is incorrect.How do you correct incorrect information found in public records? First of all, are you sure you are readng your public records and not someone with the same name? If you are certain it is your records, then you need to write a letter to that data base and request that this information be removed.
