Biology Question: What information is needed to determine that an extract is an enzyme?

Here's the question on the review, I'm having some trouble.

Suppose that you have isolated an extract from a tissue and you have found that the extract speeds up the rate of a particular reaction.

What kind of information would you need to demonstrate that the substance responsible for increasing the rate of this reaction is due to an enzyme?Biology Question: What information is needed to determine that an extract is an enzyme? To start off its a catalyst.

and the best way is to take half of your sample from the same extract and kill the catalyst ( since its organic you could just heat em up and kill it)

and then take 2 separate vessels that the reaction is going to take place and add the dead extract and the living extract and compare the times.

this should provesince it was organic the heat killed the organic extract.
