Where can I find information about a local city tax for New York City residents?

I've heard that people who live in New York City are required to pay an extra tax in addition to state and federal taxes. I'm not sure if this is only for those who:



* directly own NYC property (co-ops, condos, houses, etc.)

* anybody who normally resides in NYC (apartment)

* or anybody who works within NYC
