I am planning to move to London some time in the future and I think it might be nice to have some knoledge about it there before I do. Just wondering if you have any information about the good places to go, the nice places to live..anything like that.
Thank you! What is some good information that you could give someone new to London, England?it rains like everyday. it's cold. Oxford St. is a great place for shopping. Buckingham Palace is in Green Park. So remember to get off on Green Park when you're on the tube. The Hard Rock restaurant is around there too. Most tube stations are within walking distance of eachother, so if the tube is really really packed, which during rush hours it is, and say u only need to go one stop over, you can walk. Avoid the tube on Saturday if you can, you'll be packed tighter than a sardine. Visit Hyde Park. It's pretty, nothing special, but nice to get away from the city, while never leaving it! Oh and if you venture out of London, definately visit Windsor Castle. That's where the Queen actually lives. It's much bigger than Buckingham Palace and lots of cool things to see there. Good place to live is Earls Court, Green Park, Queensway, High Street Kensington, and areas nearby. What is some good information that you could give someone new to London, England?

I think London is okay for a day out but I wouldn't want to spend any longer than that there. I lived in Croydon for a couple of years and visited London quite often, but found the people to be not too friendly and didn'r feel safe there. It's much better in the North of England. We're friendlier than our Southern cousins. What is some good information that you could give someone new to London, England?Don't think the streets are paved with gold - they are not! Its expensive. Be streetwise. Join in community events - great way to meet local people etc. Some parts of London are not very nice places to live - so do your research. Find things to do on the local authority website - don't pay tourist prices for things to do. But enjoy it, its the best city in the world in my opinion.
stay at home lol! What is some good information that you could give someone new to London, England?
Get a good big A-to-Z ( that's zed, not zee) and a tube map.
London is pretty much anything and everything... bloody huge great diverse city.
In your twenties with a zoo of friends it can be a great deal of fun - everyone on the same track, all your friends are a tube or bus ride away, lots of different places to go and see. Later in life, dependant on your situation, it can become quite isolating and isnt the nicest place to live at all - but then I know plenty of people not in their twenties who love it and will probably never leave.
It really depends what you do and intend to do... you should be able to find some other bunch of people doing what you are doing or want to do. Good places to go? How much money do you have and what do you want to spend it on? It really is as basic as that... as others have said, get an A-Z and get "Time Out". Parts of North London (Camden, Islington) are cool, as are parts of South London (Brixton)... Nice places to live? What's nice? A nice flat or nice street? So many, too many unknowns for anyone to comment really... I've had some friends with a nice flat in Brixton, but I'd personally never want to live there... likewise I've known someone else with a "fuckpit" in Dulwich and yet it is one of the few places in South London that I would consider living in... similarly in North London... depends on your pocket, workplace, interests, friends... so on and so forth. What is some good information that you could give someone new to London, England?
Something about house prices:
It is very expensive to both buy and rent in London.
You would be better of living in one of the many suburbs and getting the tube into the city centre when needed.
Best to stay in one of the suburbs as can be really expensive.
How do you know you want to move to London if you don't know anything about it. OK, good points - always something to do, multi-cultural environment, great restaurants and shops. Bad points - costs an arm and a leg to live there, roads are congested and polluted, Prices are very high, people can be quite unfriendly if you don't know anyone.
