How do car collectors get information on how many cars just like theirs was produced?

I have a 1973 Corvette convirtable, 454, 4 speed, Elkhart Green, medium saddle interior, hydraulic steering, ralley wheels, tape deck/amfm stereo, air conditioned. That's all! No power anything. Can anyone tell me how many of these were made, and where they get this wonderful information? Thanks! How do car collectors get information on how many cars just like theirs was produced?I own a shop, and deal with a lot of old vintage/muscle cars. The way to do that is; Get the vin number from your vehicle, and contact General Motors asking how many of those were produced. They go by your number, and can enter that into their computer, thus finding out how many in that sequence were produced before a change was made. Sometimes you get the information, and sometimes you don't. It just depends on who you get to talk to, and what kind of day they are having. My dad worked at GM for years, and it was like pulling teeth even for him to get the information. Sometimes you can even get this information from a dealer parts department if you have a pretty rare vehicle. GM puts out books on their vehicles, and it may even take purchasing one of their books to get what you want to know.

Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!How do car collectors get information on how many cars just like theirs was produced?any things which r made in india, a office is placed in the manufaturing factroy, this office is called exice office and u can ask them about anythings,How do car collectors get information on how many cars just like theirs was produced?Just google make and model of car.How do car collectors get information on how many cars just like theirs was produced?
There is tons of information on Corvettes out there. The best resource is the Corvette Black Book. It has exactly what you are looking for in it. Try a few forums too. There are people out there who carry this information in their heads.
